The government is preparing a new increase for the suburban ticket of 9.5% and another for the interdepartmental one of 4.5%, reported El País and confirmed The Observer with the Minister of Transport and Public Works, José Luis Falero.
The suburban ticket within the limits of Montevideo will go from $ 58 to $ 64. The 32-kilometer ticket will go from $ 71 to $ 78. For its part, the price up to 40 kilometers will go to $ 92 and for 52-kilometer trips it will be worth $ 103.
Falero confirmed to The Observer that the increase was already foreseen and that it corresponds to parametric adjustments. It will come into force once the decree is signed by the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou.
The sector is in conflict due to the little progress that salary negotiation has made. The National Union of Transport Workers and Workers defined a 24-hour strike on Monday, December 6 in the interdepartmental sector for the holding of a union assembly, as reported by Monte Carlo and confirmed to The Observer the leader of the Unott Juan Arellano.
The measure is by “disagreement” that exists in the union for the lack of progress in wage negotiations and also by workers who have been on unemployment insurance for two years, indicated Arellano to The Observer.
The last A proposal presented by the labor ministry included a two-year agreement and increases in July when the wage agreement expires in February, according to the unionist. In other words, the companies were not responsible for the increases in the corresponding months between March and July. That proposal was rejected by the workers.
