Increase in public transport fares; the fare will cost Bs 3 from September 21

The passage of the urban transport, In Santa Cruz de la Sierra it will rise to Bs 3 for adults, starting this Saturday, September 21. This was announced by transport leaders.

Segundo Ricalde, representative of urban transporters, reported that after an assembly held this Wednesday it was decided to raise the adult fare from Bs 2 to 3. “It is a solidarity rate, taking into account that the cost study showed another figure higher than that (Bs 3.70)”he shot.

The leader also clarified that the cost of tickets for students, both university and school, will remain the same. “There are no changes for these two groups,” he said.

Ricalde argued that the sector’s determination occurred in the face of the “Lack of response from both the Council and the Municipal Executive. We have exhausted all avenues for dialogue”he said.

A few weeks ago, Ricalde and other leaders presented a cost study to the mayor that argued for an increase in the fare to Bs 3.70. At the time, the simple announcement sparked criticism from both authorities and residents.

Some pointed to the quality of service offered by the sector in the city and the economic situation that the country is going through.
