“We are focused on having an inauguration of the new Jorge Chávez when we have 100% certainty of security,” he said after the meeting of the Council of Ministers.
In that sense, he pointed out that the inauguration will take place when “all the whitewash practices that ensure 100% operation” of the new terminal have been carried out. “The airport will only be inaugurated when we have absolute certainty that all practices related to airport security and operations are 100% certified,” he reiterated.
Likewise, he stated that this period of time will allow the access and exit works to the airport to be completed, as well as incorporate signage, traffic lights and remove any interference that may arise.
“We are aware that, in accordance with the contract, this inauguration was scheduled to take place on January 29. However, there have been delays that could be considered the subject of special attention in order to review this date,” he assured.
To review this issue, Gustavo Adrianzén stated that a meeting is being held between officials from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC), representatives of Lima Airport Partners (LAP) and the airlines.
This would be the second time that the date for the inauguration of the new Jorge Chávez International Airport terminal has been changed, since initially the inauguration had been planned for December 18, 2024.
