Today, Wednesday, July 27 at 6:00 pm, the 2022 Spanish Film Festival was inaugurated at Cinema 23 and 12.
The presentation was in charge of Luciano Castillo, director of the Cuban Cinematheque, and Laura López, cultural counselor of the Embassy of Spain in Cuba.
On the opening day, the animated short film Do Not Feed the Pigeons winner of the BAFTA Award from the British Academy, presented by its producer Jordi Morera and its director Antonin Niclass.
The film Freedom (Spain-Belgium 2021) was presented by its director, Clara Roquet, winner of the Goya Award for Best New Director.
Starring María Morera, Nicolle García, Nora Navas, Vicky Peña, Carol Hurtado, María Rodríguez Soto, the film is about the life of the Vidal family, who spend the last vacations of a grandmother with advanced Alzheimer’s in their summer house. This film won two Goya awards: Best New Director and Best Supporting Actress (Nora Navas).
The 2022 Spanish Film Festival also proposes eight feature films. It will arrive at the Yara cinema and at the Alfredo Guevara room, of the San Gerónimo School. The films included are little pigby filmmaker Carlota Martínez Pereda; alcarrasby Carla Simón, winner of the Golden Bear at the most recent edition of the Berlin Film Festival; Outdoor Y Lemon Poppy Seed Breadboth by Benito Zambrano.
The Exhibition is a tribute to the director Juan Antonio Bardem for the centenary of his birth, with the exhibition of several of his films, among which stand out death of a cyclist Y Main Street.
