The director of the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewerage (inapa), Wellington Arnaud, assured that the municipality of Haina will have double the water they currently receive, after the aqueduct system being built in the town is finished.
He informed that the new aqueduct will have a capacity of 300 liters per second equivalent to about 5,000 gallons per minute, additional to the existing ones, to benefit a population of more than 180,000 people.
The work has an approximate investment of 380 million pesos. Arnaud took a tour of the new facilities that will be finished in mid-March 2023. He specified that the residents of Haina will have water in quantity, quality and pressure, after more than 30 years of not receiving the service in their homes.
Arnaud said that the problem with water will be resolved and that for the sectors that do not have distribution networks, some 96 kilometers of pipes will begin to be installed, to fulfill the promise of President Luis Abinader to bring drinking water to every home in the Dominican Republic.
During the tour, Arnaud was accompanied by the mayors of Haina, Osvaldo Rodríguez; El Carril, Miguel Peña; as well as the deputy Margarita Tejeda; Joel Pinales, provincial director of the inapa and former deputy Leivin Guerrero.
