From the main headquarters of Banco de la Mujer (Banmujer), a meeting was held with the Minister of Popular Power for Women and Gender Equality, Diva Guzmán, with the union movements of the Labor Community Defenders program, on violence against woman.
Guzmán specified that “The union struggle is clear and we must empower it with the Law, there is the correct information to be able to advance in the fight against violence. We must not allow ourselves to go beyond the law or misinterpret it.”
For her part, the general director of the National Institute for Women (Inamujer) indicated that “there has been an increase since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, in what has to do with psychological violence.”
Likewise, the Communal Labor Defender program seeks to fight against gender-based violence, with the participation of the country’s working class in 2023.
Venezuela is one of the pioneering countries in developing a comprehensive and legal policy to combat violence against women.
