In a joint effort to improve training and development opportunities for socially at-risk youth, the director of the National Institute for Vocational Training and Capacity Building for Human Development (INADEH), Yajaira Pitti, and the Minister of Social Development (MIDES), Beatriz Carles, visited the Training and Development Center for Adolescents (CEFODEA). During this visit, both authorities identified the areas of need of MIDES that INADEH can cover through training programs.
CEFODEA, which currently houses young people at social risk, offers a variety of specializations such as Mechanics, Bodywork, Cooking, Protocol and Welding, as well as allowing them to complete their school education. However, the center’s facilities are in a state of neglect and require urgent improvements.
Committed to the cause, Pitti and Carles announced a plan to rehabilitate CEFODEA’s facilities and put them into full operation. INADEH will provide support in training areas where there are currently no instructors and will rehabilitate the workshops for effective use.
“Our goal is to transform CEFODEA into a centre of excellence that provides young people at social risk with the necessary tools for a better future,” said Yajaira Pitti. Beatriz Carles, for her part, highlighted the importance of this collaboration in offering real development opportunities to adolescents.
With this initiative, INADEH and MIDES seek not only to improve CEFODEA’s facilities, but also to guarantee comprehensive and quality training for young people, thus contributing to their social and labour inclusion.
