Santo Domingo. – The National Institute for Student Welfare (INABIE) has asked the Attorney General’s Office to open an investigation against the company Santinis Investments SRL and the store identified on its facade as “Mi Gusto” in Villa Mella for the sale of school shoes with the institution’s logo on their soles.
INABIE Executive Director Víctor Castro ordered this action after verifying the existence of merchandise in the aforementioned store, which was a product similar to that given free to schoolchildren.
“As CEO, I categorically reiterate that we will not tolerate any action of this nature that threatens the investment that the State carries out so that students attend classes with what they need from the first day,” said Castro.
Castro explained that during the investigation carried out by the institution’s Inspection and Control Department, inconsistencies were found in the account provided by those involved. Two pairs of shoes with the identity of INABIE were found on the shelves of the store last Friday, August 9, the day the complaint was received.
Given the inconsistencies presented, the damage to the institutional image and the indications of illegality that the implementation represented, sale of these shoes, Castro empowered the Public Ministry to investigate this case in depth and establish the truth.
The clothing purchased by INABIE through supplier companies is directed to the school population at no cost and its sale under the institutional logo and the specifications required for its manufacture is strictly prohibited.
