“This is an example, I’m planting food and not planting violence and planting hatred,” says the Brazilian president. In the post, Lula says he expects one day to receive the visit of the US President at Alvorada, so they can talk about the Brazilian reality.

“That’s why President Trump, I wanted to enjoy this Saturday planting a victory grape here at Alvorada Palace, a place that I hope one day, we can visit, and we talk to you to know the real Brazil,” says Lula in the video, which was filmed by the first lady Janja da Silva, according to credit in the post.

The message was published on Saturday night (16), when Brazil is targeted by a 50% tax rates imposed on imports to the US from various Brazilian products, including coffee and fruits. The measure especially reaches the agricultural and food sectors.

In the video, Lula also states “that President Trump is no use” the Brazilian grape, because “if necessary, it goes to school lunch.”

The president also invited Trump to “learn the quality of the Brazilian people”, who likes all countries, including nations with conflict relations with each other, such as the United States, Russia, China and Venezuela.

Since US tariffs have come into force, the Brazilian government has been trying to make contact through diplomatic and official roads, but without finding interlocutors in the US government with autonomy to negotiate.

Some sectors of the economy and politics ask Lula to call Trump directly, but representatives of the Brazilian government say that there is no guarantee that any connection will be properly received by the US President.
