The On August 5, the first case of monkeypox was confirmed in Arequipa, but as of today they add up to 22 contagions and the patients are unrelated or had no contact with each other. Until yesterday there were 18 diagnosed cases.
The Regional Health Management of Arequipa confirmed today that this increase was to be expected, considering that one of the characteristics of this illness is the fast contagionalthough mortality is low.

According to the director of Epidemiology, Jorge Velarde, 70% of patients are men who also have HIV but all are stable isolated in their homes. Health establishments only have less than 2 beds to care for patients with complications.
