So far in 2022, the authorities of the Ministry of Security and the Public Ministry in the province of Colón have seized 7,700 kilos of illicit substances and have achieved the conviction of 45 people for drug trafficking crimes, this was reported by the prosecutor of Drugs of Colón and Guna Yala, Eduardo Rodríguez, after referring to the confiscation of 1,517 packages of presumed drugs found in two containers of Colon ports.
The prosecutor added that 4 Panamanians, surprised in one of the containers, were arrested.
Rubén Vigil, head of the Second Aeronaval Region, explained that this seizure occurred in the Caribe operation and that the first container came from Guayaquil, Ecuador and only transited through Panama because its final destination was Saudi Arabia.
The second container, also from Ecuador, had Georgia as its final destination.
