Hoy Paraguay

At a breakfast with opinion leaders and on the occasion of 25N, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Europe Team presented progress in the implementation of its Gender Action Plan in Paraguay, for the period 2021-2025. This initiative proposes strategies, objectives and actions to cooperate and continue growing with equality.

In November 2021, The Europe Team presented this plan and from then on developed several actions for its fulfillment; which, in turn, led to projects implemented by different entities and organizations, with the support of European cooperation.

The main challenges that were identified to build this common roadmap are: deepen the dialogue; combat discrimination and violence; and reduce adaptation gaps to global change processes, in the fields of digitization and ecology.

As part of the Plan construction process, The commitments assumed by Paraguay that establish clear responsibilities in terms of gender equality were taken into account.

Consultations with institutional actors, the private sector, and civil society have also been a valuable element in preparing this plan.

The sum of actions shows that there were important advances for gender equality. The achievements achieved so far were mainly in terms of protection against violence; democracy and political participation; Health; and decent work.
