Republican congressman Carlos Gimenez warned that if aid to the island is not stopped, the Mexican government could receive “severe consequences.”
🚨If the government of Claudia Sheinbaum in #Mexico continues to undermine the policy of #USA in sending oil to the murderous dictatorship in #Cubawe will implement severe consequences for trade between our countries.
You cannot be with God and the Devil.

US Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar asked Mexico not to allow dictatorships like those of Cuba and Venezuela and accused that crude oil is being sent to the island.
“Mexico is our closest neighbor, and none of us are going anywhere. Today, during the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee hearing on the Western Hemisphere, I sent a clear message to President Claudia Sheinbaum: history is watching us. Stop allowing dictatorships in Venezuela and Cuba. Our hemisphere needs leadership, not silence. Mexico is too important to sit on the sidelines. It must support the United States in defending freedom and the Western Hemisphere,” he wrote the congresswoman on her social networks.

The Republican Party politician criticized that in recent months, the Mexican government has sent oil tankers to Cuba.
“The perfect example is Cuba. In the last four months, Mexico has sent 55 oil tankers worth more than 3 billion dollars to the Castro tyranny for free. And what is the reason? I don’t understand it,” he said.
Sovereign decision
In this regard, President Claudia Sheinbaum clarified that this is a sovereign decision of Mexico, and would not have to influence the relationship with the United States.
“Our position is sovereign, it is a sovereign decision, and it has a lot to do with the Humanism that we represent. The people do not have to suffer; the blockade is a very complex action for the people, who suffers is the people. So, our position in relation to Cuba is going to be maintained, as it has been maintained, I repeat, since López Mateos,” he said in his morning conference.
The disagreement between the US congresswoman and President Sheinbaum occurs in the midst of Donald Trump’s decision to block ships and accuse the Nicolás Maduro regime of using “the oil from these stolen oil fields to finance narcoterrorism, human trafficking, murder and kidnapping.”
“Today I order a total and complete blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela,” he said.
