In the midst of the peak of Covid-19 cases, the Government announces that the fourth dose application will begin on January 10

In the midst of the balance sheet of the Ministry of Health (Minsal) for the situation of the coronavirus pandemic in the country, the President Sebastian Piñera announced the start of the application of the fourth anticovid dose or second booster dose.

As indicated by the President, it will apply from Monday, January 10 to immunocompromised people. Meanwhile, from Monday, February 9, it may be received by those over 55 years of age, who have completed six months since their previous dose; health personnel and the population at risk.

“Experience has shown us that the efficacy of vaccines, and also of boosters, decreases with time and also with the appearance of new variants,” said the President.

“The success that Chile has had in the vaccination process and in protecting the health and life of all Chileans is the merit of all Chileans,” he stressed, “and places us among the best countries in the world in the way that we have managed to combat this pandemic and this has allowed us to save many lives, “he added.

The announcement of the Head of State comes on a day in which 3,134 cases of Covid-19 were reported, the highest number since July 8, when there were 3,193.
