He Ministry of Sport budget will be significantly reduced in 2025. This was confirmed by the head of this portfolio, Luz Cristina López, who indicated that only $460,000 million will be allocated for operation and investment.

The cut in the amount for this ministry is approximately $848 billion. That is, it will go from the $1.3 trillion allocated in 2024 to the more than $400 billion planned for next year.
The reduction in the resources that the Sports portfolio will have occurs in the midst of the actions that the Government is adopting to clean up public finances. In this regard, Minister López highlighted that All ministries will see their budget ceilings affected and work is being done to make it sustainable by 2025.
“It is no secret that the country is in a fiscal crisis and that this crisis does not only affect the Sports portfolio”he indicated.

The Ministry of Sport also highlighted that its portfolio maintains working groups with the National Planning Department (DNP) so that this cut is not greater, since The reduction in its budget is close to 66%.
As for the reasons behind this adjustment, a technical source from the DNP consulted by EL TIEMPO indicated that “The spending ceilings available were reviewed and, to the extent that the sector has no inflexibilities, and due to the limited fiscal space left to us by the payment of debt service, we had to reduce the sector’s spending.”
