The first to do so was the PAN member Roberto Gil Zuarthwho on Ciro Gómez Leyva’s radio program announced that he will seek the candidacy for minister of the SCJN.
‘“On Wednesday that the call is published, I am going to stand for the election of minister and I am going to knock on the door of the Senate of the Republic, minister of the Supreme Court by popular vote; On October 16, if the call is published, I will be the first to present my papers,” said Felipe Calderón’s former private secretary.

Also Lenia Batres he raised his hand. Because she is a minister, she has a direct pass to be a candidate for this position for the June 2025 elections.
“I have been here for a few months (at the SCJN) and I have not even completed a year, but from the beginning I have expressed myself in favor of the reform (to the Judiciary). It would be an honor to be part of this first generation of ministers chosen by the universal, direct and secret vote of our population; Of course, I would consider running,” he mentioned.
The third person who reported that he will seek the candidacy is Yasmin Esquivelwho like Lenia Batres, being currently a minister, has a direct pass to compete for the position, but now by vote of the citizens.
“We are reviewing the process. The most important position in my life and the one that has honored me the most is being a Minister of the Court. Nothing would be more gratifying than continuing in it. Those of us who are now in office have an automatic pass to the ballot. It would be a great opportunity to continue serving as minister,” she said in an interview in the Senate.
In addition, he pointed out that the Judicial Reform “opens a gap” for other reforms in matters of justice, such as crime prevention and investigation, care for victims, since he said that electing judges by direct vote is “the beginning of other reforms that must be to give to have an improvement in justice in a comprehensive way.”
Loretta Ortiz He has also been actively at public events. “We are here to serve you, that is the reason for our function and our existence: just to serve you, that is my mandate and I want to continue to keep it and respect it and exercise it and that will be thanks to your vote, we (Lenia and her) We will always see for the rights of the people, thank you very much for your support,” he said in his unveiling.
