Former President Danilo Medina called for reflection, solidarity and understanding among all Dominicans in the face of the situation of “excessive violence” that affects society.
Medina spoke at a ceremony held yesterday at the Sabana Perdida multipurpose complex, after swearing in the representation of some 19,000 new members who joined the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) in the Santo Domingo Norte municipality.
“Let’s put aside any differences, any criticism, any fight. Let’s get our head out of the daily battle and look beyond. Let’s focus on what really matters, on everything that unites us as a people and as human beings,” said the PLD president.
He added that the country needs to regain confidence and tranquility, and for that the collaboration of everyone, absolutely everyone, is urgent.
“That’s why, as stars that you are, today I want to ask each of you and all the PLD fans who listen to me one thing: to be, at all times and places, an example of harmony, respect and love for others,” he said.
