The alliance that the Institutional Revolutionary Parties (PRI) and National Action (PAN) had had at the local and national level was also broken, since the former registered its coalition last Wednesday only with the Democratic Unity Party of Coahuila, while the PAN party reported that it will nominate its own candidates without an alliance.
Next Sunday, June 7, the elections will be held to renew the state Congress, with 25 deputies, 16 with a majority and nine with proportional representation. The entity is considered the bastion of the tricolor, as it has never lost a local election.

Governor Manolo Jiménez won in the 2023 elections, at that time together with the PAN and the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD), so prior to registering his alliance with the PT, the leader of Morena, Luis María Alcalde, called on his followers to end the hegemony of the PRI and snatch legislative control from it.
“We are going to convince each one, each one of us, we are going to convince at least 10. We must inform what the PRI means, how are we going to let those corrupt people continue devouring what belongs to the people?”
He said that there are “one hundred years of corruption” in the state and asked his followers not to believe the PRI, and he demanded that the electoral body “call evenly” for an equitable contest.
“There is a myth here in Coahuila. They say that the people of Coahuila are PRI supporters. You know that President Claudia Sheinbaum, Morena and the Coalition swept away,” harangued the Mayor, who said that the PRI is betting on distracting voters with the 2026 Soccer World Cup.
He assured that the State Congress is an obstacle for rights and social programs to reach Coahuila and said that the universal pension for people with disabilities is a case.
The event was attended by Diego del Bosque, leader of the local Morena and of the PT, the leader and senator Alberto Anaya and the deputy Ricardo Mejía Berdeja, leader of the local petismo.
