Lanús beat Independiente 1-0 at home, in a discreet match of the 13th and penultimate date of zone B of the Professional Football League Cup.
The only goal of the match, which was played at “La Fortaleza Granate” and was refereed by Patricio Loustau, was scored by Ángel González 46 minutes into the second half.
With both teams already eliminated, the match showed, due to the performance and the alternative formations, that they are thinking about the South American, the competition they face in parallel.
Lanús started well and had two good chances before 10 minutes, first with a cross shot from the right by Ángel González that Spinelli failed to connect and then with a shot by Aude that went over the crossbar.
After the game he fell into a hole from which it was difficult for both of them to get out, without clarity in the generation or arrivals of risk. There was, yes, a personal move by Togni that ended with a deflected shot; and a great intervention by Sosa to deflect a very nice shot by Careaga from the edge of the area. Nothing more.
The second half was worse and there were just a couple of arrivals from Independiente, through Fernández. When the game was ending and the zero to zero seemed sealed by fire, González appeared and gave the three points to “Maroon” to decorate the campaign.
Now they will face their international commitments. Lanús, who has just won a visit to Wanderers from Uruguay and is leader of Group A, will visit Barcelona in Ecuador on Wednesday.
And the “Rojo”, by G, who beat La Guaira in Venezuela and is second behind Ceará of Brazil, will have to go to Paraguay on Tuesday to face General Caballero.
On the next day of the local Cup, the 14th and last of the first phase (for both the farewell), Lanús will visit Central Córdoba in Santiago del Estero and Independiente will host Huracán in the Libertadores de América-Ricardo Bochini.
