About 1.5 million people are expected in São Paulo’s municipal cemeteries this All Souls’ holiday. To receive the visitors, the Municipal Funeral Service organized a task force in the 22 cemeteries, 118 funeral rooms and crematorium with improvement, security and revitalization actions in the weeks leading up to the date. Units open at 7 am and work until 6 pm.
The service has about 1,000 employees to serve the public in the cemeteries, according to information from the city hall. Telephones 156 or (11) 3396-3800 are also available for assistance. Accessible chemical toilets were installed in cemeteries to meet demand. There will also be celebrations contemplating different religions.
The Traffic Engineering Company (CET) monitors traffic in the vicinity of the main cemeteries and makes blockades, changes in the direction of circulation, traffic guidance and guidance for pedestrian crossing. SPTrans also does special operation. Bus lines that pass near cemeteries have signs on the windshield for better location of users.
The Municipal Funeral Service also warns that visitors do not encourage child labor, given that it is common for children and adolescents to be present on these dates to offer tombstone cleaning services, sale of flowers and candles. Situations like this can be reported on portal 156, on Dial 100 or at the cemetery administration.
