Until now, unidentified people shot dead a 15-year-old teenager as he was leaving a basketball court in the Bermúdez expansion, Santiago province.
The victim was identified as Edwin Emmanuel García, who was attacked from a moving vehicle.
The young man died from projectile wounds while receiving medical attention at the President Hospital Estrella Ureña.
The young man would have been fatally injured when a crowd ran off the field, after an incident between fans of two rival teams, in the middle of a basketball game.
According to the preliminary versions, fans of both teams began to throw bottles and cans into the playing area after a referee’s decision.
As the situation got out of control, a group of fans left the complex. It is at that moment that a burst of shots is heard, supposedly caused by several people who were traveling in a vehicle.
The body was sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif), for location purposes.
