The Integrated City was launched on the 22nd by Governor Cláudio Castro, at Palácio Guanabara, seat of the state government. It aims to retake territories, with the objective of bringing social, economic, infrastructure and security development to the population living in the communities of Rio de Janeiro.

Jacarezinho and Muzema were chosen due to the advance of drug trafficking and militia, respectively, in the two locations. Castro announced at the time that only after the program is fully operational in both communities will the state government extend it to other communities. The first resident to be served at the Jacarezinho Habilitation post was retired bus driver José Geraldo Ramalho, 65, who had a category D professional license and renewed his document with a change to category B, in order to drive passenger cars. . For him, the service at Cidade Integrada was a marvel. “I was arriving and soon solving what I needed, with complete tranquility. I hope it always continues like this”, he said.

At Muzema, the actions took place in the Ágape International Community, totaling 1,390 attendances. The program was the chance that driver Rodrigo Soares and his fiancee, Ana Carolina Santiago, had to update documents and speed up the bureaucracy required to formalize the union. They were assisted by Leo XIII Foundation staff and filed the wedding fee waiver form. “We wanted to get married, now this opportunity has arisen and we are going to make it happen. Cidade Integrada brought ostensible policing and more security to the region. I think people’s lives will improve a lot. It is a breath of hope”, commented Rodrigo.

Andrielle de Souza has lived at Muzema for five years. She asked for her children’s ID cards and also renewed her documentation. “It’s the first time I’ve seen an action of this size here, with so many health, beauty and document services. I solved everything very easily in one day; I was very well directed. Here it was always an abandoned place, we never had an intervention. It’s the first time I’m seeing it and I’m enjoying it”, he praised.
