Members of a mining cooperative in the city of Potosí denounced yesterday that a group of criminals took mining supplies valued at almost 100,000 dollars over the weekend and are demanding the return of work material, including compressors, drills, power generators, energies and others.

“We want to ask for justice. Many people have stolen from us, for example machines that don’t even work and we have found them in different places,” protested one of the leaders yesterday at the Prosecutor’s Office in Potosí.

According to the first reports, the robbery occurred in one of the cooperative companies located in the Cerro Rico de Potosí. Among the stolen equipment are compressors, drills, power generators, cylinders and a kind of equipment for mining work.

According to the story of the cooperative members, five assailants were caught “red-handed” and then handed over to the Police, however, yesterday they were about to go free, for which they arrived at the offices of the Prosecutor’s Office of Potosí to demand that the suspects not be released until they can pay or return the machinery.

“We have found them red-handed, selling our machinery part by part, including equipment that does not work,” said the representative of the mining partners.
