The Minister of Defense, Pedro Sánchez, He assured that the creation of this unit is a direct response from the National Government to the security challenges in Risaralda, especially in the face of the increase in murders associated with organizations such as Los Rebeldes and The Cordillera, the latter responsible for at least 70% of the homicides that occurred in the last year in Pereira.

“We are not going to allow a handful of criminals to affect the tranquility of this region. The order is to dismantle them. And those who are part of these groups must know that they have the option of demobilizing or facing the full power of the State,” the Minister warned.

General Carlos Fernando Triana, director of the National Police, explained that The search block has experts in intelligence and criminal investigation who have already identified an organization chart with nearly 200 criminalswho will be captured in the next operations.

“We are going to hit all the links of the criminal structures, from the ringleaders to their financial networks, the trafficking of drugs, weapons and explosives,” said the senior officer.

Triana highlighted that, as part of the national strategy against multicrimethe Police have achieved this year 34,406 arrests, the recovery of 158 vehicles and the seizure of more than 306 firearms, in addition to the dismantling of a network dedicated to the distribution of ‘tusi’ type synthetic drugs, with the seizure of more than 15,000 doses and 2,000 jars of ketamine.
