In Paysandú, Raffo made progress in the construction of "a very wide movement"

Laura Raffo, eventual pre-candidate for President of the Republic for the National Partyvisited the sanducero property where the beer week and there he held contacts with the general public and in particular with actors in the political sector, among them Jorge Larrañaga Vidal –member of Alianza Nacional and son of former senator and mayor Jorge Larrañaga–; Nicolás Olivera –mayor of Paysandú–; and the nationalist senator Carlos Camy.

“I am in a stage of listening to people a lot”she said when asked about her political projects.

The former candidate for mayor of Montevideo explained that “it is very important when you connect with people and see what they need, it is when you best come up with political ideas to improve people’s quality of life.”

He explained that he has been holding conversations with leaders from all over the country, from the entire National Party, from various sectors, “because We want to build a very broad movement, that is very comprehensive, that has representation of people from the metropolitan area and also from the interior, from different currents of the party, from Herrerismo, from Wilsonismo”.

After pointing out that he is “advancing a lot” with various colleagues, he pointed out that “Here in Paysandú we talk a lot with Alianza, of course”.

Raffo indicated that his idea is to start building a “very comprehensive, very large, movement that represents what the people need, because that is the answer that political movements have to give to the people, they do not have to be built by power in itself, but to respond to the needs of the people”.

“With those who get close”

“We are in talks, we have a very good relationship with the Alianza comrades, and with those of Herrerismo as well, so We are going to be building a space little by little, with those who come closerbut we still have no official announcements to make, They are conversations that are on the right track, that make us very happy”, he clarified.

Raffo also stressed that, when it came to forming his movement, “We have to think of a common vision in principles that we all follow and that guide us towards the north, which has to be to give people more well-being”.

“Stoves lit in all departments”

Larrañaga Vidal, for his part, pointed out that the political group that he integrates is holding regional meetings. There have already been in Colonia, San José and Lavalleja and others will soon be made in Artigas and Paysandú. The objective is to consult other leaders about the realities of their territories and how they see the framework of the national leadership.

“We have had an approach with different valuable leaders at the national level, Laura of course is one, with whom we have a very nice relationship, personally I have a very good relationship that was born in the 2020 municipal elections,” he said.

He added: “We are in dialogue, there is still time ahead, we are taking our time, Alianza is a collective project, therefore consultation with all colleagues is very importantfrom every corner of the country and we are in this process, let’s wait later how the panorama is unraveling a bit ”.

Larrañaga Vidal explained that in the genesis of Alianza the main strength was always in the interior, which has great territoriality, “it has leaders and stoves lit in all departments, in some stronger and in some weaker, but it has them in all, it always had its power inside”.

In his case, he said, “here in Paysandú is where everything was born, Personally, I am committed to touring the department, the city and the deep interior, walking through all the payments, making my contribution from here.my work is here”.

Finally, he pointed out the value of “making a great effort for people, as Laura said, that is ultimately the main objective, to be known as those who are always there, permanently soaking up reality, close to people, every day.” , one has to walk and always be a bridge between the concerns and problems of the people”.

“Awesome” move

About the party in that city on the Uruguayan coast, Raffo opined: “It became a party for all of Uruguay (…) the movement generated by Beer Week is impressive”.

He indicated that he took advantage of the visit to enjoy the activity and talk with people from Paysandú and the rest of the departments about “the projects that people have, how to carry them out, what their dreams are and to be able to find a tool in politics to that those dreams and those projects can come true, which is what all of us who dedicate ourselves to politics want to do, give people more well-being”.

Raffo said she was “very enthusiastic” after attending Beer Week, which is organized by the Paysandú Municipality.

The 56th edition of the activity was declared of interest by the Ministries of Education and Culture and Tourism.
