Inhabitants of the La Chama sector of Mérida assure that after the increase in the dollar rate, the owners of commercial establishments have begun to lower their santamarías
Nervousness has taken over the inhabitants of the sector the chama of the Libertador de Mérida municipality, where they begin to report the closure of some commercial establishments and price increases in food items after the increase in the dollar rate.
This was announced by the housewife Beatriz Vera, who explains that since Wednesday, August 24, in the afternoon, she has noticed how the owners of some businesses began to hide part of their merchandise and modify the costs of others.
“This Thursday, August 25, many businesses woke up closed and still continue like this, those that are open increased the price of the merchandise and hid part of the items that are in greatest demand. We are worried and nervous because we don’t know if there is a shortage coming or an unattainable rise for us consumers,” he stressed.
Her neighbor Lorena Suárez explained that some items such as corn flour, oil and sugar have disappeared from the shelves, she says that in the establishments where it is obtained they have an increase of almost 30% compared to the cost they had before the rise in dollar.
“We don’t know what to do, we are a lower class population and we have to super manage our income. We see with great fear that this is happening before the silent gaze of the authorities,” Suárez said.
