Terminal 2 of the Tocumen International Airport is 99% complete, announced this morning the operations manager of the air terminal, Claudio Dutary, announcing that the inauguration of this expansion is scheduled for the end of May.
“The work is 99% ready, we are currently in the testing process of all the Airport’s operating systems and we expect to be ready for passenger processing and 100% use of the Terminal by the end of the month of May of this year,” he said.
In addition to this expansion, the airport is preparing to put into operation its new Airport Operations Control Center (AOCC), which, according to the general manager of Tocumen, SA Raffoul Arab, will be a space provided with high technology where multiple operational processes, incidents, security, passenger service, infrastructure management, maintenance, among others, will be coordinated in real time.
This center will be located between terminals 1 and 2, it is a critical environment with availability 24/7, 365 days a year. From there, the coordinated supervision and control of all areas will be carried out, with the active and face-to-face participation of representatives of all the institutions and entities that perform key functions at the airport.
“With this new Management Center we are taking a huge step forward in airport management, with world-class processes, equipment and systems that place Tocumen as one of the most advanced airports in the region,” he specified.
The new Airport Operations Control Center is a project linked to the upcoming full opening of Terminal 2 that will expand Tocumen’s current capacity to process more than 20 million passengers a year.
