In May, for the first time in the year, retail sales fell due to the effect of inflation

The Argentine Confederation of Medium-sized Enterprises (CAME) revealed in its latest report on the SME Retail Sales Index that, due to the effect of inflation, retail sales fell for the first time in the year.

According to the study, sales for the sector they decreased 8.9% compared to April; while the retail sales SMEs fell 3.4% annually in May, which, according to CAME, affected various items.

Clothing and textiles had the biggest drop in sales.

For the Confederation, in May the retail sales they were affected by “increases in prices and costs, which weakened their profitability and consumer sentiment”.
