“In May 2022, the energy demand was 6,577.69 GWh-month, which represents a growth of 8.92% with respect to the national consumption of May 2021, since it was a month in which, although there was a growth in demand, was a lower percentage than expected. May highlights that, last Wednesday 4th, the maximum historical demand of our National Interconnected System was reached with a total of 225.57 GWh-day”, he stated. With these indicators, the accumulated demand in these first 5 months of 2022 reflects a growth of 5.5% compared to the same period in 2021.
It stands out that the Valle region had a growth in energy demand in May 27.33%. Among the activities with the highest growth in demand in May compared to the same month of 2021, the following stand out: manufacturing industries, with an increase of 30.61% and social, communal and personal services with a growth of 18.89%.
Discriminated by type of consumer, in residential consumption and small businesses (regulated market) there was a growth of 3.78%; while industry and commerce (unregulated market) increased by 21.27% compared to the same month of the previous year.
