A Venezuelan family of five people needed $ 17.5 daily to cover the food basket during the month of March, according to the Documentation and Analysis Center of the Venezuelan Federation of Teachers (CENDAS-FVM).
In Your reportCENDAS indicated that the cost of the food basket, composed of 60 products, reached $ 526.83. This represented a 16.5% increase in its price in bolivars compared to the month of February.
Last month, the item that recorded the greatest price increase was that of cereals and derived products (34.79 %), followed by coffee (29.55 %), meats and their preparations (22.37 %), fats and oils (16.72 %), as well as milk, cheeses and eggs (16.28 %).

According to the CENDAS-FVM, 283.67 minimum wages (equivalent to 130 bolivars) were needed to buy the food basket. Currently, the minimum income marked by the Venezuelan government is equivalent to about 1.5 dollars at the official rate, and is completed with a $ 40 feed bonus.
In addition, active public employees receive the so -called “economic war bonus” ($ 130), while pensioners receive an amount of $ 45.
