The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) announced today (5) that 445,500 young people between the ages of 15 and 18 won their first voter registration in March. The number was achieved after a campaign carried out by the court on social media to engage the public to attend the polls during the October elections.
According to the TSE, the issuance of new bonds grew by 27.6% in relation to the month of February this year, when 349,000 voters issued the document.
According to the survey, the search for the first title was higher among 17-year-olds. In this age group, 158,900 documents were granted in March.
The deadline to obtain the first voter registration card, regularize the document status or request a transfer from the polling station ends on May 4. After the date, the voter registration will be closed and no changes can be made to the registrations.
To check for pending issues, voters must enter the TSE website and check if there is any debt in their name for imposing a fine for not having voted in previous elections, the most common case of irregularity.
The first round will be held on October 2, when voters go to the polls to elect the President of the Republic, governors, senators, federal, state and district deputies. An eventual second round for the presidential race and the state governments will be on October 30th.
