Argentina is facing the third wave of the coronavirus and with it, the taking of both PCR and antigen samples is also increasing, especially now that the products are being marketed in the country. self test.

According to the Argentine Pharmaceutical Confederation (COFA), since the commercialization of this exam in the territory, 19,189 have been sold self test.

The result must be reported to the authorities.

Of these, 29% returned a positive result, while 68% of those self test gave a negative result. In turn, 1.99% gave an invalid result.

“The self-report by users has reached a high percentage of adherence. Regarding the tests dispensed in pharmacies, of the reported results, 29.27% were positive and 68.74% negative,” the COFA indicated.

Until now, coronavirus tests were only carried out in feverish units.

The entity also indicated that the self-assessment tests are sold in 8,388 of the 10,000 registered pharmacies throughout Argentina, despite this, in some provinces the product is already scarce.

Currently in the country you can buy the self test approved by ANMAT, whose brands are: Abbott, Roche, Vyam Group, Wiener, Jayor and Asserca.

In some cases, another test may be done to confirm the diagnosis.

After the Government approved the sale of the self test throughout the country, it has gradually begun to be marketed in each of the provinces.

Its official cost is 1,650, and only one national laboratory is among the 6 authorized by ANMAT.

The test is 97% effective.

Although each product comes with a guide on how to use it, since the tests are nasal or with saliva, the procedure turns out to be quite simple to perform.

In the first instance, the main recommendation is to wash your hands before taking the exam. Then, in the case of the nasal test, it is necessary to sweep both nostrils with the swab that comes in the package.

When a single line is output the result is negative.

Once this process is done, the swab must be inserted into the reaction tube that brings the sample and rotated to each side. Subsequently, four drops of the solution are applied to the reaction cassette and the result is waited for 15 minutes.

Initially, a pink or red line will appear in the test in cell “C” (Control), which indicates that the test was performed correctly. If a second line appears, the result is positive for covid, otherwise it is negative.
