The Ministry of Health of the municipality of La Plata this Friday urged residents to celebrate Christmas Eve and New Year “responsibly” and called to be “aware of the damage we can cause using fireworks.”
“These dates are an opportunity for all of us to enjoy with family and friends, but we must do it responsibly, being aware of the damage we can cause using fireworks”pointed out the secretary of health of the Municipality, Enrique Rifourcat, and remarked that “the noises cause negative effects on people, animals and the environment.”
The message from the municipal official came a few days after the Legislature will approve the “Zero Pyrotechnics” law in the Buenos Aires area that prohibits the commercialization and use of fireworks with high sound impact for recreational use.
Rifourcat explained that the sound and the Fireworks explosions affect people with autism, Asperger’s, Alzheimer’s, Down syndrome, and cognitive or neurological disabilities as well as animals, and stressed that its use can cause accidents and injuries; while the waste released by burning it highly pollute the environment.
