This Monday, August 15, the MTSS presented a report on unemployment insurance figures for July.

In July, the number of people on unemployment insurance fell again, reaching 43,367 workers, the lowest figure since before the pandemic and representing a reduction of 2,316 people compared to the previous month.

The proportions of recent months are maintained, “eight out of ten workers (80.8%) are in total unemployment insurance (35,035) and 19.2% remain in partial unemployment insurance (8,332)”.

According to the report, the reduction in the number of workers in unemployment insurance “was both in total unemployment insurance, which went from 36,278 to 35,035, that is, 1,243 fewer workers, and in partial unemployment insurance, which fell from 9,405 to 8,332, that is, 1,073 less”.

“The data for July represent a significant reduction with respect to the average number of workers in unemployment insurance registered during 2019 (47,500), around 4,000 fewer workers,” the Secretary of State compared.

It is also indicated that if only those who are in total unemployment insurance are taken, since partial unemployment insurance did not exist and, in addition, they are workers who are active, “the figure is much lower than the average of workers in insurance of total unemployment for the period 2014-2018 (37,101 against 35,035)”.

On the other hand, it is stated that the number of workers who left unemployment insurance in July 2022 was “11,242, a figure higher than that registered in June (10,409) and considerably higher than those who left unemployment insurance in May. (7,560). It is also stated that 62.7% workers left due to reincorporation and 37.3% due to dismissal.

Income

The MTSS report details that during the month of July “8,926 workers entered unemployment insurance, that is, 665 workers less than in June, and about 1,100 workers less than in May.”

Of these, “4,369 (49%) entered due to dismissal and almost the same amount, 4,557 (51%) were due to reduction or suspension.”

The analysis by sectors of activity shows that the reduction in the number of workers in unemployment insurance is concentrated in three main categories: “accommodation and food services (18% less), transport and storage (17% less) and commerce (4.5%). less).
