In July, the bidding process for Calle 13, in Bogotá, would be opened

The President of the Republic, Iván Duque; the mayor of Bogotá, Claudia López; and the Governor of Cundinamarca, Nicolás García, announced the co-financing between the Nation and the District of the 13th Street road project.

It is expected that, for the month of July this year, the selection process and adjudication of the main cargo corridor in the country.

With this work on the Calle 13 corridor, the Bogotá – Cundinamarca Metropolitan Region begins, which —as we have said from day one— is not only to work together, to draw up standards and projects, but to carry out works that improve quality of life of the people of Bogota and Cundinamarca”, affirmed the mayor López.

From the municipality of Mosquera, the president of Bogota confirmed that this co-financing agreement will be signed at the end of July this year: “We are ready, we have the studies, designs, absolutely everything to immediately open the bidding documents, award the work, and start the work on 13th Street at the end of this year”.

In his speech, President Iván Duque stressed that This important road infrastructure work is part of the strategic projects of the Bogotá – Cundinamarca Metropolitan Region.In this government we made the constitutional reform to give impetus to that process, also the legal reform, but we did not stop at announcements, but it was accompanied by the allocation of resources to accompany projects of a strategic nature for that concept of the Metropolitan Region.”, said the head of state.

Calle 13 includes 11.4 km of lanes built between Carrera 50 and the district boundary (Río Bogotá, 4 lanes in each direction for mixed traffic, 1 lane in each direction for BRT and 2 lanes in stations. Added to these are 13 TransMilenio stations, a terminal station and a patio for 124 bi-articulated buses. It also includes the construction of public space with platforms and bike paths.

It will become a corridor that deserves the name of being the main cargo entry corridor, for economic development, for job creation for Bogotá, for Cundinamarca and for Colombia.”, assured the Mayoress Mayor.

This important road corridor on Calle 13 will have an investment of $4.9 billion pesos: $3.5 billion of co-financing that the Nation will contribute and $1.4 billion that Bogotá contributes.

This project is part of the transformation of Bogotá with the two Metro lines. “A first line that is already in process and a second line that ensures its financing in accordance with the fiscal framework,” confirmed the Head of State.

The Governor of Cundinamarca, Nicolás García, stated that the expansion of Calle 13 is absolutely necessary for the development of the country because it benefits more than 800,000 citizens.

This is the Metropolitan Region, today Cundinamarca and the country benefit from public works, public resources from the Nation and District, recognizing as Cundinamarcans that we are the first and greatest beneficiaries of this project.”, Governor García said.

The planned scheme for the development of the 13th Street project is that of public works by the Urban Development Institute (IDU), and its operation would be in charge of TransMilenio SA The costs of operation and maintenance of what was built would be in charge of the Capital District.
