The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) reported that the binational operation was carried out in Nogales, Sonora, and that it resulted in the dismantling of the prolific transnational drug trafficking organization that operates along the border between the United States and Mexico.
In addition to the capture of Heriberto, Jesus “R” was arrested, also element of the criminal group.
The Mexican authorities also seized four vehicles, two properties, two firearms, a large number of fentanyl pills and other substances.
Six coordinators and operators based in the United States with alleged links with the same drug trafficker organization have been accused of drug trafficking, explained the FGR.
Rafael “A”, Fernando “G”, Socorro “R”, Emmanuel “S”, Jostan “V” and Rosa “P”, were formally accused of a Federal Grand Jury of drug trafficking charges on July 24, 2024 .
Emmanuel “S” was also accused of possession and distribution of false pills. Fernando “G” and Jostan “V” are still fugitives.
Another member of the organization, Eva “D”, was arrested on November 19, 2024, after being caught trying to smuggle fentanyl pills to the United States in the port of butterfly entry in Nogales, Arizona.
The FGR said the operation was part of an effort of the working group against organized crime and drug control (OECTF).
