In January the number of fatal victims by road accidents was reduced

For the first time in four years there was a reduction in the number of deaths by road accidents in January. This was reported by the National Road Safety Agency when presenting the preliminary mobility figures corresponding to the first month of the year.

According to the National Road Safety Observatory (ONSV), There was a 3% decrease in the number of fatalities derived from these incidents. The data is even more relevant when it is taken into account that in January last year there was a 6% increase compared to 2023.

The ONSV also stressed that there was a 4% reduction in the number of motorcyclists who have died following a road accident. The entity attributes that decline in the trend to the impact that pedagogy programs have had focused on motorized.

When observing the data by region, A total of 16 departmentsincluding the capital of the country, achieved reductions in the number of fatalities; Caquetá (50%), Boyacá (43%), Caldas (36%), Tolima (32%), Cauca (32%), Arauca (29%), Casanare (27%), Magdalena (25%), goal ( 25%), Córdoba (23%), Bolívar (20%), Santander (16%), Antioquia (15%), Cesar (11%), Putumayo (7%) and Bogotá DC (9%).

The same way, 14 capitals have a decrease in the number of dead people by road accidents. According to the entity, they include: tunja (100%), quibdó (100%), Riohacha (100%), Ibagué (71%), Yopal (50%), Florence (50%), Cartagena (43% ), Medellín (42%), Valledupar (40%), Bucaramanga (20%), Neiva (20%), Santa Marta (17%) and Pereira (11%).
