The first State Agri-Food Policy Law (PADE) will be sanctioned by the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, in 2023.
This was announced by the president during the act of delivery of high genetic stallions to small Darien producers and specified that the Law will be sanctioned on January 18, at the Ocú Fair.
The ruler Cortizo Cohen invited producers to be part of the history of Panama by attending the sanction of the PADE law. “This is the first law of the Republic of Panama that establishes the rules of the game for when I am not there, and above all it protects national producers from political fluctuations,” said President Cortizo Cohen.
Together with the Minister of Agricultural Development, Augusto Valderrama, the president delivered 15 high-genetic stallions, of the Gyrolando, Holstein, Brown Swiss, Brangus and Brahman breeds, to small producers in the province of Darién to improve the breeding stock of their farms. .
The stallions were delivered at the Livestock Auction of Panama, located in Quebrada Honda, benefiting producers from the communities of Santa Fe, Metetí, Yaviza, Platanilla and Seteganti.
The objective of the A Better Stallion program is to contribute to the genetic improvement of the farms of small producers through the replacement of the existing stallion with another of better genetic quality and thus increase, in quantity and quality, the production of milk, meat and other products. generated by livestock activities in the country.
Subsequently, Cortizo Cohen went to the National Training Center of the National Border Service (Senafront), to witness the practices, abilities and skills of the Fifth Brigade of Special Forces.
The group of border police officers presented President Cortizo Cohen with a wooden replica of the monument dedicated to the men and women who make up the brigade.
Similarly, the uniformed officers took advantage of the president’s visit to impose new ranks on three members of the Senafront, Commissioner César Patiño, Captain Eynar Serrano and Major Félix Quiroz.
President Cortizo Cohen was accompanied by the governor of Darién, Álvaro Bristán; the mayor of Santa Fe, Efrén Ibargüen; Ministers and Vice Ministers of State; and directors of public entities.
