The head of the Political Judgment Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, Carolina Gaillard, said Thursday that they had already held a meeting to “analyze the relationship” of the president of the Supreme Court, Horacio Rosatti, with the Buenos Aires government of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta.
The deputy also stated that All the members of the commission that are part of the Frente de Todos (FdT) “expressed their commitment to guarantee a quorum” to deal with the request for removal of the members of the highest court.
“The members of the Political Trial Commission of our block met to analyze and discuss the relationship of the highest authority of the Court with the government of (Horacio) Rodríguez Larreta. The impeachment request will be presented between this Thursday and Friday for Deputies. All the members of the Impeachment Commission of our bloc expressed their commitment that they will be there to guarantee a quorum,” Gaillard said in statements to El Destape Radio.

President Alberto Fernández and provincial leaders filed a request for the removal of the four members of the Supreme Court (Horacio Rosatti, Carlos Ronzenkrantz, Juan Carlos Maqueda and Ricardo Lorenzetti) for “poor performance of their functions” and “manifest partiality” at the time to hand down rulings.
Fernández delivered this request to the Chamber of Deputies and asked Germán Martínez, head of the Frente de Todos (FdT) bench in the lower house, and Gaillard for “prompt legislative treatment”.
In this sense, the official legislator assured that The commission that he heads will investigate “a series of court rulings that violated the Constitution.”
“As was the decision of the Council of the Magistracy and that of co-participation in favor of the City of Buenos Aires and to the detriment of the provinces,” he said.
The decision to initiate a process against the members of the body occurred after the dissemination of chat conversations that Silvio Robles, spokesman for the head of the highest court, presumably held with the Minister of Security and Justice of the City of Buenos Aires, Marcelo D. ‘ Alexander.
In these exchanges, Robles indicated to the Buenos Aires official what strategies the Horacio Rodríguez Larreta government should follow to obtain a favorable ruling from the Court in the dispute with the Nation over co-participating funds, something that finally occurred.
Gaillard also rejected the request of the representative of Together for Change (JxC) Rodrigo de Loredo to be removed from the presidency of the commission for “not guaranteeing the objectivity and impartiality of the process.”
“Discussions in political bodies do not proceed, Rosatti himself said this in a ruling. Members or authorities of political bodies cannot be challenged because we would be distorting the object,” he explained.
He also remarked that during the process “the poor performance of the Court will be discussed” and her role as president of the commission will be “to coordinate the impeachment trial by doing what the constitution says.”
“The regulation establishes that once all the evidence has been produced, the defendants are summoned, in this case the members of the Supreme Court, to inform them of the evidence produced and that they can make a discharge before the Commission,” he indicated about the process that was being carried out. will carry on
Finally, Gaillard considered it essential that the opposition attend the Commission and affirmed that “it is what corresponds”.
“It is irresponsible not to participate in the sessions because it is blocking the functioning of the institutions,” he concluded.
