In the agreement signed by Maxi Montilla The Public Ministry indicates that he took advantage of his family status of the then president to form “a corruption structure that operated in the electricity sector through a corporate network composed of various companies, through which he manipulated purchase and hiring processes” in the electricity distribution companies.
In addition to the return of 2,000 million pesos, payment of 600 million in compensation to distribution companies and 431 million pesos to the General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII), Maxi Montilla promised to testify against the judicial process.

This agreement, the result of one of the lines of investigation developed within the framework of the Antipulpo operation, was approved by a court, through which Montilla and a set of their companies admit their criminal responsibility. As part of the commitment, the confiscation of RD $ 2,000 million in cash in favor of the Dominican State is authorized.
Additionally, Montilla must pay compensation of RD $ 600 million to the Eastern Electricity Distributor (EDEATES), Southern Electricity Distributor (Edesur) and Northern Electricity Distributor (EDENORTE), in compensation for the damages caused by their actions within the sector.
The agreement also establishes the dissolution, within a period of two years, of the companies involved in the corporate framework, including: Dominican Solomon Transformers, SAS; Aluconsa electrocable, SAS; NSD diverse imports, SRL; FEE Electrical Materials Distributor, SRL; Henan Jinhui electric distributor, SRL; Importadora Eaglerise, SRL; TLC Global Business, SRL; Watmax Lighting, SRL; ELECTRICAL HIERRAJES RPC, SRL and MG SOLOMON CORPORATION.
Likewise, the employer must pay the General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII) an amount of RD $ 431,816,307.90 for pending tax obligations.
As part of the confiscation of goods, a portion of land of 200.18 square meters is included, corresponding to plot no. 5-C-PROV.-85 of the Cadastral District no. 3 of the National District, located on Roberto Pastoriza Avenue no. 2, almost corner Avenida Ortega y Gasset, in the Naco Ensanche, whose value was estimated at RD $ 50,901,692.13.
Danilo defends himself
In relation to these accusations and the agreement signed by Montilla, the former president of the Republic, Danilo Medina, said that his relationship with his brother -in -law was always “Cordial, but distant”, categorically denying any political, work or economic bond with him. During an interview in the radial program “El Sol in the morning” (106.5 FM), Medina was questioned about the accusations to Montilla, who has been mentioned on multiple occasions for alleged irregularities during his term under the government of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD).
According to Medina, the agreement signed by Montilla with the Public Ministry was simply an appeal “to leave it calm and freedom.” He added that he even personally told Montilla that, with that act, he had given his honor, and that this sacrifice “is priceless.”
