Regarding the unemployed population, all those who did not work a single hour a week, but expressed willingness to do so, in the last month of 2022 it was 1.6% of people, leaving the unemployment rate at 2.8%, reported the National Institute of Statistics and Geography in a statement.
To close last year, the economically active population (PEA) -people aged 15 or over- was 59.6 million people, 580,000 people more than in December of last year.
Regarding informality, this indicator stood at 54.9% (31.8 million people) in December. The indicator had a decrease of 1.6 percentage points, compared to the last month of 2021.
Of the employed people, 39.3 million worked as subordinated and paid workers, 13.2 million worked on their own, 2.9 million corresponded to bosses or employers and 2.5 million people worked in businesses or family plots contributed to the production processes, but without an agreement pay).
The underemployed population, all those who expressed availability to work more hours than their current occupation demands, was 4.2 million people, 1.5 million people less than in December 2021.
