The Erasmo Meoz hospital is owed $84,000 million by the New EPS and 120,000 million by the National Government per migrant population.
Given the serious problems that are being registered in health services for the users of the Nueva EPS and the Erasmo Meoz hospital, A protest is planned by workers and patientscalled the Great March of the White Coats.
“In Cúcuta, a large mobilization will take place this Tuesday, October 28, starting from the outskirts of the Erasmo Meoz Hospital, Starting at 7:30 a tour will take place along Guaimaral Avenue and will culminate in the Nueva EPS facilities,” said Jesús Vergel, president of ANTHOC, the health sector union in Norte de Santander.
The union leader added that the closure of the IPS HIVONCO affected the service of approximately 400,000 users of the New EPS, Those who end up going to the Erasmo Meoz hospital are patients who come from the 40 municipalities of the region, Arauca and Venezuelan territory.

Likewise, Julio Lizcano, representative of the nursing union, told La FM that “It is unheard of that due to non-payment of the New EPS, the health of thousands of people is affected, “Many of the patients face serious problems due to lack of medications, appointments with specialists, that is, their respective treatments have been suspended.”
The protest is going to take place, because the emergency room of the Erasmo Meoz hospital has already collapsed, where there are no supplies, and this is due to the debt of the various EPS, especially the New EPS, whose value amounts to more than 84,000 million pesos.
Likewise, union leader Aristidez Hernández, president of Asintrasersalud Norte, told La FM that “The clinics and hospitals are no longer providing services to the EPS that are based in Cúcuta, among them Nueva EPS, Coosalud and Sanitas, and this has generated a health crisis that affects those who urgently require medical attention.”
Aristidez added that, Since the beginning of this year, complaints have been made about health deficiencies, but unfortunately there is no timely response. despite the various difficulties that are being registered.
“This protest that the various unions have been leading is to be supported, given the serious problems that have been arising that ultimately affect the users who end up going to the Erasmo Meoz Hospital and, despite the efforts we have been making, “There is already a high occupancy in the emergency sector that exceeds 300 percent of its installed capacity”said Hospital Manager Hernando Mora.
He added that it is the hardest moment he has faced during his years of career, that thanks to God and the help of the Governor he has managed to maintain himself in the midst of the financial crisis that affects the community.
Manager Hernando Mora aspires to pay the National Government’s debt for care of the migrant population, which amounts to more than 120,000 million pesos.
