In Cuba tour operators from Spain and Portugal for a tourism convention

Nearly 400 travel agents and travel professionals tourism sector of Spain and Portugal arrived in Cuba this Sunday to participate in the DIT Management Annual Macro Convention, to be held in Havana and Cayo Santa María.

After his arrival on the island, John Arriaga, president of the Spanish tour operator DIT Gestión, explained that planning for the event began half a year ago “with the interest of promoting the sale of the Cuba destination,” refers the Cuban News Agency (ACN).

The convention will be in session until May 7 in parallel to the International Tourism Fair FitCuba 2023which this Monday draws its curtains in the Morro-Cabaña Historical Complex, in the Cuban capital, with the purpose of promoting the recovery of the sector on the island.

The attendees of the DIT Gestión event will also participate in this fair.

Gihana Galindo, commercial director of the Cuban Ministry of Tourism, told the ACN that the visitors will be this Tuesday at FitCuba 2023 and then they will join the convention on the 4th in Cayo Santa María, in Villa Clara. Said event will have representatives from all the provinces of the country who “will expose the most genuine of each territory,” he explained.

For their part, several of the newcomers to Cuba commented to the state press about their expectations on the island and the possibilities that this visit offers them to promote the Caribbean nation as a tourist destination.

“The idea is to learn more about the country with a multitude of attractions and take advantage of the opportunity to participate in the International Tourism Fair,” said Blanca Nieves Martínez, from Viajes BlanTours, from Vitoria, Basque Country, in this regard. quoted by the agency Latin Press (PL).

The participants in the Macro Annual Convention DIT Gestión, will know the potential and natural beauties of Cayo Santa Maria, where they will receive talks and make excursions to various sites of this tourist pole. In addition, they will also visit the most emblematic places of the Cuban capital.

DIT Gestión, a group from Guipúzcoa, one of the three provinces of the Basque Country, hopes to achieve a “relevant impact” with this action and Cuba is “all willing” to offer the best facilities, he told PL Niurka Pérez, Minister of Tourism of Cuba for Spain and Portugal.

A few days ago, the tourism company TUI Spain launched a promotional campaign called Cuba’s Fortnight, which will be active until next May 7.

The large travel wholesaler, a Spanish subsidiary of the German firm TUI AG, has more than 2,300 seats with guaranteed departures from May to October to the island, the information adds.

In addition, as of next June the connections between Spain and Cuba will increase based on tourism, with the new Enjoy Travel Group/Enjoy air route that will cover the direct Barcelona-Havana route.

This is added to the direct flights between Madrid and Havana with Air Europa, Iberia, World2Fly, Iberojet, Cubana de Aviación and also a weekly frequency to Santiago de Cuba.

Cuba has set itself the goal reach 3.5 million international tourists in 2023a figure with which it seeks to contribute to its battered economy, although considered ambitious by specialists, due to the current difficulties facing the country and the still insufficient rate of tourist arrivals.
