MEXICO CITY.- The governor of Puebla, Alejandro Armenta, participated in the fifty-first ordinary session of the National Public Security Council, headed by the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, where he assured that Puebla has improved in all security indicators thanks to the coordination between the three government orders.
During his participation, the state president pointed out that with the free centers Carmen Serdán the crime of femicide decreased 51 percent, compared to last year. He recognized the participation of the National Guard (GN), the Secretariat of the Navy and the Ministry of National Defense (Defense), to address crime on the highway to Veracruz and Mexico City. He emphasized that in a coordinated way his administration also attends the crime of extortion and maintains collaboration with Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), in the strategy to combat hydrocarbons.
When heading the National Security Council session, President Claudia Sheinbaum, recognized that her government records important advances in coordination with the 32 entities of the country and that the objective is that it is consolidated from the laws that have been approved at the federal level and that seek to generate peace and tranquility among Mexican families.
The Executive Secretary of the National Public Security System, Marcela Figueroa Franco explained the advances in the indicators such as the malicious homicides in which States as Puebla record a significant decrease between January and August of 2025.
In his message, the Secretary of Public Security, Omar García Harfuch, indicated that the purpose of the session is that Federation and states reach consensus that translates into solid agreements to generate effective public policies and respond to security challenges. He explained that this session reaffirms the will to act in coordination and strengthen citizen trust in institutions. In addition, the federal official, recognized the will of the governors with the premise that security is a shared responsibility.
He emphasized that thanks to the coordination of the Security Cabinet, Secretary of the Navy, Defense, National Guard, Attorney General of the Republic and the state governments, the number of malicious homicides in the country was reduced by 25 percent. He explained that so far this year there have been the lowest indices of said crime and 23 entities have decreased in this indicator.
The Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodríguez Velázquez, stressed that in the first axis of the security strategy, which corresponds to the attention to the causes, have carried out a coordinated task with the participation of 37 federal units and the 298 peace tables, where state and municipal authorities intervene, to carry programs for well -being and prevention of violence and addictions
Finally, the Attorney General of the Republic, Alejandro Gertz Manero, indicated that the numbers confirm the coordinated efforts of federal entities with state governments, acknowledged that as authorities they have to be present in all streets, colonies, schools and populations in the country, because he said that the only way to contain crime is to attack from its origin.
The Government of Puebla joins the security strategy of the presidency of Mexico to consolidate a country of peace, justice and well -being, through intelligence, technology and strengthening of police corporations.
