This disease is affecting countries in Europe; United States, Brazil and Peru. “In Colombia we have maintained a series of controlled cases, most of them foreign. He further explained that given the contagion growththe risk of community transmission has been increasing in the country, for which it is necessary to take certain measures.
In the last epidemiological committee it was determined that “we have a window of opportunity to do containment work before there is a chance of community transmission,” he said.
That is why the health portfolio decided to increase the level of risk from a moderate level to a high level.
He also explained that an action plan for the impact of this disease in the country has already been consolidated. Between them, increase diagnostic capacity. Questions were also included in the migration forms in the country to control the arrival in Colombia of affected people.

“Actions were defined that will be implemented from the EPS, such as a specific model of care for handpox. We hope that it will be implemented in the country starting next week,” Ruíz assured.
Among them, a hotline for users and a telemedicine service for access to health services in a personalized and fast way. Also, some points of attention for those who are suspected of having this disease.
It should be remembered that this disease begins its transmission when skin lesions become visible. It is also transmitted through fluids and sexual contact.
