In Cochabamba, a man kills his ex-wife

A 43-year-old woman was cut throat by her ex-partner, a 45-year-old man, who was captured by neighbors and family and handed over to the Police after fleeing. The incident of blood took place early this Monday, in the Pacata Alta area, in the department of Cochabamba.

The victim was at his home, a rustic house with adobe walls and a corrugated iron roof, where his ex-partner arrived, who was in alcoholic state.

Preliminarily, it was reported that both people were consuming drinks in the place, after which they had an argument, where the man ended up attacking with a knife to his ex-partner, causing his death.

The victimized woman remained in the property while her minor children and relatives, upon finding out what happened, alerted the neighbors about the incident and They reported to the police.

The author of the crime, after ending the life of the women, He fled, but was chased and captured several blocks from the scene, being apprehended and handed over to the police.

The victim was identified as Elva Silvia Choque Villegas, while the perpetrator of the femicide, José Gómez Calaniwho has already been placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry.

The Police reported that the perpetrator of the crime already had a record against him, a list of complaints of which two were at the stage to go to oral trial.

The victim’s relatives commented that Elva Silvia had reported her ex-partner for the attacks she suffered, but that these complaints came to nothing.

The Police confirmed that the four complaints against José Gómez are from different victims. “ItThe police do nothing. When you go to report it seems like they say: ‘I want to see you beaten or dead’; they don’t do anything. I went to report it with my sister, but they kicked me out of the place,” one of the deceased’s sisters reported to the media.

“They wanted to see my sister dead, she is dead there,” she said disconsolately.

With this fact, the cases of feminicide in Cochabamba rise to 16 registered so far in 2024, three of them in the municipality of Cercado, the area where the death of Elva Silvia was reported.

Two children, ages 10 and 4, are left orphaned, who apparently also witnessed the femicide.

The victim’s remains were transferred to the Forensic Research Institute (IDIF) for a legal autopsy.
