During the first day of the Pacifying My Neighborhood Program, Building the Future, in the district of David, province of Chiriquí, 37 firearms were exchanged for bonds.
The National Police, in coordination with the National Directorate of Armaments and the Government of David, installed the collection center for the Preventive Program in the Rafael Hernández School Gymnasium in the City of David, where a total of 1,727 ammunition of different calibers were also recovered, 7 tear gas grenades, 15 magazines for rifles, handguns and 10 explosives.
These exchanges represented a disbursement of more than 8 thousand dollars in redeemable bonds.
Commissioner Elida Ortega, Inspector General of the National Police, reiterated that this program is completely confidential and the main objective is to get these illegal weapons off the streets.
He urged the general public to hand over firearms among other explosive devices, no questions are asked at the site and the anonymity of the people who hand over the respective firearms is maintained.
