In Caracas ex-minister persecuted by Lasso

The Former Ecuadorian Minister María de los Ángeles Duartewho left the Argentine embassy in Quito, where she had been staying since August 2020 and had political asylum for humanitarian reasons, traveled to Venezuela, agencies cited.

The news was confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of Argentina, which indicated that Duarte appeared at 11:00 local time on Tuesday at the headquarters of the Argentine embassy in Caracas.

There, the Foreign Ministry explained, she was attended by Ambassador Oscar Laborde and two officials from the diplomatic headquarters.

Duarte was at the Argentine embassy in Quito as a “guest for humanitarian reasons.” There he requested asylum after the persecution that the governments of Lenín Moreno and Guillermo Lasso (investigated for corruption), supported by the judiciary, promoted against the followers of the former president Rafael Correa.
