In Bajada de La Chinta, Monsignor Azuaje asked to work for the common good of the country

Monsignor José Luis Azuaje, Archbishop of Maracaibo, expressed his hope for the recovery of Maracaibo and Zulia. He said that La Chinita is watching over those who suffer, those who are poorest; victims, migrants, battered women, unemployed; for the undernourished, exploited and those who do good by serving the needs of the people with love

This Saturday, October 29, it took place at the Basilica of Our Lady of Chiquinquirá the traditional descent of the Chinita to reunite with her parishioners, the climax of a preparation that had taken several days organizing the 21 groups of apostolates at the service of the Virgen Morena.

From midday, the parishioners gathered in the square that precedes the temple to receive the Marian dedication and ask for favors or pay their promises; a centuries-old tradition that had to be briefly interrupted by the covid-19 pandemic.

The Archbishop of Maracaibo, Monsignor José Luis Azuaje, led the liturgical acts where he asked all politicians to put aside their differences and work for the common good. He recalled that, although we have differences, human beings can live together in brotherhood and achieve good things.

He affirmed that, just as Jerusalem went from being a place in ruins to the Holy City, the recovery of Maracaibo and the state of Zulia will be achieved, as long as there is the support of all those who make life because “the economic resource or the great projects that are developed in communities, but rather it is the human quality of the people, their values, principles and faith in Jesus Christ».

Monsignor Azuaje stressed that, like the Virgin Mary, parishioners must let God do what he has to do. He said that La Chinita is watching over those who suffer, those who are poorest; victims, migrants, battered women, unemployed; for the malnourished, exploited and those who do good by serving the needs of the people with love.

He said that each of the citizens must introspect about their actions that lead to social conversion, while adding that those who want to do good “must carry the cross of Christ.” In that sense, he commented that if God himself was mistreated, a human being does not escape from it. But despite this, God is not a “righteous being.”

After mass, several bagpipe groups sang to Chinita while they waited for the descent of the Tablita that contains her image. The entertainer Daniel Sarcos was present at the event, who was applauded by the attendees. He said that he makes an appearance in this activity after 20 years of absence.
