The president of the Federation of Ancap Workers (Fancap), Gerardo Rodríguez, assured in a letter addressed to the president, Luis Lacalle Pou, that analyzes denouncing the nationalist senators Sebastián Da Silva and Graciela Bianchi for “accusations, insults and aggressions” directed towards his person, before the Prosecutor’s Office and international organizations such as the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) and the International Labor Organization (ILO).

According to Rodríguez, long ago he and his family have been “suffering from permanent attack, persecution and grievances” of Da Silva, to whom Bianchi joined, after the discussion that the union leader had with the president March 14 in Minas for the privatization of portland in Ancap and the status of a furnace purchased in 2012.

Da Silva has dedicated several tweets to Gerardo Rodríguez. The day of the discussion with Lacalle Pou, the nationalist senator uploaded a photo of Rodríguez to Twitter at the crossing point, and wrote: “Today you paid Gerardo Rodríguez his salary to go to Minas to make a ruckus in front of the President. In 2021 he worked 2 days and still has the nerve to talk about those who work”. A day later, he uploaded a video in which Rodríguez talks about the increase in fuel prices, and described it as “the unionist zero hour”.

Graciela Bianchi posted a tweet on March 19 saying that Rodríguez receives a salary of $ 174,000 in Ancap.

The day before, the senator wrote another in which suggested investigating how much “this public official costs taxpayers”, in reference to the president of Fancap, whom he shows in the same video that Da Silva published. “They told me that he earns more than an Ancap Director and surely has fewer responsibilities. I hope for results in the short term”he added in another tweet.

“The exercise of their legislative privileges (…) does not mean that they are allowed to attack, misrepresent or try to intimidate representatives of civil society institutions through alleged secret and unconstitutional investigations”Rodriguez criticized.

The president of Fancap sent this letter to Lacalle Pou so that “take responsibility” for “putting a limit” on the attitudes of your party’s senatorsbecause “it would be a very bad sign for society and a discredit for politics” if the president “endorses going out to ‘kill’ the adversary with any method”since “it damages institutions and democracy“.

For Rodríguez, this situation is about “embarrassing people in the ‘public square of social networks’which he considers a “inquisitorial practice” that it should be “eradicated from politics”.
